Some artist work with colour, some other with stone, bronze or metal. The materials of art are manifold and the most most artist take them from the every day life. Leonardo Ulian does it like this. Born in Ruda, Italy got the multimedia artist an extraordinary key subject. Trained in London, Udine and Gorizia got Leonardo Ulian diplomas in microelectronics, graphic and multimedia and Fine Art and is interested in systems, the making of things, electronic gizmos, noise, nature, science and graphics.
In his earlier work Ulian deals with different systems of order and create new arrangements of everyday deconstructed everyday objects. For his artwork “Close to the essence” recombined Ulian the components of a hifi-system to create a sculpture which reminds to the products of the austrian-italian designer Ettore Sottsass. Ulian creates with his Technological Mandala series a beautiful symbiosis of these themes and deconstruct electrical goods and construct beautiful ornaments of the single elements. In this way Ulian imparts a glace behind the veneer of daily used objects and discloses their inner aesthetic. The colours and forms of the single components devoted in a new arrangement filigree ornaments which remind to Indian mandalas. Shades of blue, red, yellow and green stand next to filigree silver lines and geometrical forms. Leonardo Ulian reveals with his work a very poetical view on our society and the things we use every day.
