Daniel Everett

The photographic view of Daniel Everett is empty. His subjects are everyday objects, environments, architecture and abstract scenes, capturing through strange compositions and a kind of fictional beauty. The american artist and photographer based in Provo (Utah) received a BFA in photography from Brigham Young University in 2006 and a MFA in photography from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago in 2009.
He spent time working as an art assistant, graphic designer, architectural photographer and digital art archivist. Everett is focussed on photography and contemporary art, his work draws a thin line between sculpture and photography.
Everett is interested how a photography changes when treated as a sculptural object and likewise, how the understanding of a sculpture changes when reduced to two dimensions. He moves between dimensions and materials, for his series Tower for example he created three different images of a tower, two photographs/images and one sculpture. In presentation and subject he switches between digital and analog, his shows are generally a combination of photography, sculpture and video, merged in one installation. He creates new connections and relationships between the pieces and bring them all into dialogue.
The resulting images are familiar, but every time a little bit odd, characterized by a strong atmosphere. Sometimes some colors seems to be wrong, sometimes the images seems to artificial, to perfect. Find more of Daniel's fantastic work on his website.
